Mobility Scooters come in four models, each model suiting a specific purpose.
A Travel Mobility Scooter can be disassembled into four compact pieces for easy placement into the trunk of the car. The heaviest piece weighs about 22 pounds, so this type of scooter is easy to move to different locations. A Mobility Scooter can also be transported by plane, as batteries are sealed for safety. Because of its compact size, this model of scooter is not recommended for individuals over 5'10" in height or 300 pounds in weight. Two types of Mobility Scooters are Guardian and Pride.
A Three-Wheeled Mobility Scooter is the next in line. This type of scooter offers more in features than the Travel Scooter and is able to maneuver very well. A Three-Wheeled Scooter can be used both inside and outdoors and can accommodate individuals up to 350 pounds. It also has features such as seats that power-elevate. There are many brands of scooters available, such as the Pacesaver and Pride models.
With a Four-Wheeled Mobility Scooter, there is much more stability. This type of scooter is mostly for outdoor use, as it has a higher ground clearance and larger tires. The Four-Wheeled Mobility Scooter can reach up to 10 mph and is a great choice for those individuals who will need a way of getting around outdoors, such as farmers and ranchers. This scooter can handle rugged terrain, but because of a wider turning radius, is not recommended for indoor use.
A Heavy Duty Mobility Scooter is for those individuals who are over 350 pounds. This scooter is available with three or four wheels and can handle weights of up to 500 pounds.
No matter what type of scooter you may need, there is a model that will be able to suit your purposes. |
